Barcelona starlet Marc Muniesa has told Sport that he will be ready, if first team coach Pep Guardiola needs him and insisted that, in the meantime, he will focus on doing his best for the B team.
The 17-year-old centre-half debuted for the Barca second string in Saturday's 1-1 raw with Mallorca B and will spend the remainder of the season playing in Segunda Division B, the third tier of Spanish football.
"The important thing is to play an settle into Barca B. I have to get experience in Segunda B if I am to have any chance of playing in the first team," noted the player who is already being called 'the next Puyol'.
The young defender said that he has no qualms about playing in the second string and insisted that he will continue to work hard. Muniesa is one of a number of youth team players who featured in coach Pep Guardiola's pre-season preparations and he says he is willing to continue learning.
"I'll train and play with the second team and if Pep [Guardiola] needs me, he will call," added Muniesa.
"Pep told me he is very happy with me, but the arrival of [Dmytro] Chygrynskiy means I have to go to the B team, but that is normal and I am happy, it is my team. I will continue working."
Muniesa made his debut for Barcelona on May 23, 2009 after coming on a substitute in the 0-1 home defeat against Osasuna, but he was sent off after just a few minutes on the pitch.
