Player Ratings: Valencia 0-0 Barcelona
It was a stalemate at the Mestalla, and Goal.com was on hand to rate the players...
Valencia
Cesar - 7: Made a couple of decent saves from close range, but nearly ruined it all with a mistake from a Yaya Toure shot at the death.
Miguel - 8: Kept Pedro in his pocket throughout, and caused a few problems going forward.
Angel Dealbert - 7.5: Dealt with most of the traffic that came his way, with a couple of vital interceptions.
David Navarro - 8: Handed the captain's armband, was a commanding presence in the centre of defence.
Bruno - 8.5: Shackled Messi for the duration of the game, and never really looked threatened.
David Albelda - 7: Did well to shackle Barca's usually creative midfield, but was lucky to escape a booking until very late in the game, after a series of trademark late tackles.
Ever Banega - 7: Did his job in a defensive sense, but was lacking the creative spark that he has showed in recent times.
Pablo Hernandez - 7.5: Valencia's most dangerous player, he got past his man on a number of occasions, but his finishing let him down.
David Silva - 7: Made a nuisance of himself and got into some good positions, but often displayed poor finishing.
Jeremy Mathieu - 7: Played further forward than usual, where his defensive frailties were masked, and he lent valuable support.
Juan Mata - 7: Lively at times, but like everyone else on the pitch, failed to take his chances.

Miku - 7: Seemed to come on largely for the purpose of disrupting play, and he did that well.

Ruben Baraja - N/A
Barcelona
Victor Valdes - 8: Made some vital close range saves, including one within the first minute.
Daniel Alves - 7.5: A bundle of energy as usual, tireless in attack and defence. Should stop taking free-kicks though.
Carles Puyol - 8.5: A commanding performance from the captain, which should put paid to any thoughts anyone at the club may have about selling him on. Was always in the right place at the right time.
Gerard Pique - 7: A decent performance, but did find himself caught out of position up the field on occasions.
Eric Abidal - 7: Improved as the game went on, but was skinned by Pablo Hernandez too often.
Yaya Toure - 7: Shut down Valencia's midfield, but nearly undid all his good work with some errant passes.
Xavi - 7.5: Did all that he could, but the lack of structure in front of him negated his game.
Seydou Keita - 7: Put himself about well, but could have added more in an attacking sense.
Lionel Messi - 5: Clearly still jaded after a hectic international week, barely made an impact.
Pedro - 5: Made no headway against Miguel in the first half, and barely improved in the second.
Andres Iniesta - 7.5: Barca's most threatening player, showed some wonderful touches, but had no support.
