Osasuna coach Jose Antonio Camacho has opined on the forthcoming FIFA World Player of the Year award, and is delighted that there are so many Spanish players nominated.

Six Spaniards have been put forward for the award, while the list also includes six members of Barcelona's treble-winning side of last season. Xavi stands out above the rest for Camacho, but he insists that the award must go to a Blaugrana player.

"This is proof that Spain and Barcelona are in a wonderful moment," he enthused to Sport.

"I would give the prize to Xavi for what he did last year with the national team and Barca. What is unquestionable, though, is that it should go to someone from Barca."

Camacho, who spent his entire playing career with Real Madrid, had a brief spell as their coach in 2004. However, he added that he would never go back to the Bernabeu to take charge of los Blancos' team.

"[I would return] if Real Madrid needed me for anything else, but not to be coach," he stated, before adding that some players at Real Madrid are "overly protected by the management."
