Everyone Wants To Play Like Barcelona - Getafe Coach Michel

Thursday, September 10, 2009

Getafe coach Michel has unashamedly admitted that he wishes he could be as successful a coach as Pep Guardiola has been.

The 46-year-old coach added that the Barcelona tactician has revolutionised modern football in the same way that Arrigo Sacchi's Milan team did during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

"[In a way not seen] since Sacchi's time, the arrival of Pep Guardiola has been a revolution in football," Michel enthused to Marca.

"Along with the Spanish national team's capabilities, [who have] a similar idea of football, everyone wants to play like Barcelona and everyone wants to play like Spain.

"This, with Barcelona, is what Pep Guardiola has done.

"Guardiola has five titles, which I do not," the former Real Madrid Castilla coach mused. "There will always be differences between him and me, always favourable towards him. One hopes to have the abilities that he has, but you have to forge them with teams like Getafe."

Michel's side host Barcelona this Saturday, and the coach was not optimistic about his sides chances.

"We have our own weapons and qualities and we will try and use them. [But] in no area can we say that we are superior to Barcelona."
