Marc Muniesa Martínez (born 27 March 1992in Lloret de Mar, Girona, Catalonia) is a Spanish footballer who currently plays for FC Barcelona Atlètic.
Mainly a central defender, he can also appear as a left back.
Whilst Muniesa was only 15 years old, there was already transfer rumours that Chelsea wanted him. At the famous La Masia-Youth Academy, Muniesa developed quickly, and he was ready to face FC Barcelona's first team at the age of 17.
Muniesa made his debut for FC Barcelona's first team at the age of 17 years and 57 days on May 23, 2009, as a substitute in the 0–1 home loss against Osasuna for the already league champions. This appearance made him the second youngest player ever to feature for Barcelona, but he only played a few minutes, being harshly sent off after a challenge on an opponent.Ever since his debut he has been dubbed "the Next Puyol".
The following Wednesday, he was named amongst the substitutes for the 2009 Champions League Final against Manchester United.
Muniesa and four other Barcelona Atlètic players were promoted to the Barcelona first team for the new 2009-10 season. Although, Muniesa will still make appearances for Barcelona Atlètic, as he has to get more experienced.
