Playing Champions League Final Was A Risk - Barcelona Star Andres Iniesta

Having now returned to full fitness Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has admitted that he knew playing in last season's UEFA Champions League Final win over Manchester United was a risky decision.

Iniesta suffered a hamstring injury in a Primera Liga game against Villarreal at the back-end of last season and was in a race against the clock to try and make the Champions League final. He played, aggravating the injury, as Barca won 2-0 to complete an historic treble.

"I knew I would play injured and do more damage. For seventeen days all I thought about was the final in Rome and winning, even knowing that I would do more damage," he confessed.

The player insisted that he would do the same again, despite having been ruled out of action for three months.

"I'd repeat it, for sure. I love this club and my profession and I wanted to win. If we had lost [the final] that would have been a total disaster," Iniesta added.

The 25-year-old said he is glad to be over the "worst summer of his life", which saw the untimely death of his friend Dani Jarque, and he is now looking forward to the season ahead.

"I am eager and hopeful. I welcome the return with more joy than usual. Last season is over and we start from scratch. Humility and the right mentality will give us the chance to win more titles," he added.
