Xavi Hernandez could return to action for Barcelona on Saturday despite withdrawing from the Spain squad last weekend due to a knee injury.
The Catalan playmaker trained with Pep Guardiola and the rest of the Blaugrana players on Wednesday and club medics are optimistic he could feature on Saturday, according to Barcelona's official website.
After Spain's game against Armenia both Xavi and Carles Puyol returned to Barcelona because they would not be able to appear in the last World Cup qualifier, against Bosnia.
While Puyol is suspended for the Bosnia match, Xavi suffered a knee injury against Armenia and was given permission to return home for treatment.
His commitment to the international cause was questioned by reporters and the news that he could play in Barca's next game may cause further consternation in Madrid.
Xavi stated earlier this week that he is delighted that Guardiola allows him to decide when he should and should not play as he is not part of the rotation policy.
