Sergi Busquets has taken the unusual step of suggesting that Barca president Joan Laporta tone down his political statements for the good of the club.

Laporta has been accused by some of abusing his position to air his political opinions in public, and Busquets appears to agree. Speaking to RNE, he said, "Laporta's statements could be counterproductive."

"We should not lose the respect of Barca fans from outside Catalonia. I don't believe that Laporta says things with bad intentions.

"He knows that we need the support of people from the rest of Spain and Europe."

Busquets then talked about Pep Guardiola's training methods, continuing, "I don't understand how he can have a woman, because he thinks about football all day."

Next, the midfielder explained that he was unlikely to be leaving the Camp Nou in the near future, stating, "I will not leave even if I get a great offer."

"I value a lot of other things, such as being comfortable in the club, and having friends and family close by."

Finally, Busquets talked about Barca's prospects for the rest of the season, saying, "The cold is not an excuse not to win in Russia and the Ukraine in the Champions League."

"I want to win every trophy this season. The talk about the end of a cycle is nonsense.

"We can reach the same level as last season."
