Getafe Must Seize The Moment Against Barcelona - Jaime Gavilan

Monday, September 7, 2009

Getafe midfielder Jaime Gavilan is not resigned to defeat against Barcelona, opining that Andres Iniesta's lack of fitness could be crucial in their match at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Saturday.

"I have always emphasised Andres Iniesta," Gavilan told Marca when he was questioned about the threat that the visitors would pose.

"It's good that he is not fit, that comes bit by bit. Maybe he will have his first few minutes [since recovering from injury] here.

"For me he is a key player who does not only play well himself, but makes the rest of the team play well."

While Iniesta may not play much of a role in the game, the 24-year-old is well aware of the threat that the rest of the Blaugrana team pose. However, many of Barcelona's players have been away with their national teams this week, and with Barca's opening Champions League fixture against Inter next Wednesday, Gavilan is hoping that Getafe can spring a surprise.

"We must seize the moment to hit Barcelona at the start of the league and not when they are more settled. They have a bigger budget and better players, but it will be an open game," he mused.

"We must prepare for our own game [and] approach it our way. We have good players up front to play on the counterattack. Obviously they will have the ball more than us, but we will have our chances."
