Iniesta And Marquez In Barcelona Squad For Getafe Trip

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

Andres Iniesta and Rafael Marquez are set to be given the all-clear by Barcelona medical staff on Thursday and will be included in the squad for Saturday's Primera Division tie against Getafe, according to Sport.

Both players have failed to feature for Barcelona so far this season and a lack of match fitness means they will start from the substitutes bench at the Alfonso Perez Coliseum.

Iniesta hasn't played since suffering a thigh injury towards the end of Barcelona's UEFA Champions League final triumph over Manchester United in Rome last May, while Marquez hasn't featured in a competitive game in four months after a string of injuries, the latest being a left-leg calf strain.

Coach Pep Guardiola has been cautious in the handling of both players' comebacks and is still looking to bring the pair back to full first team action gradually.

While their return is a welcome boost, neither are expected to start next weeks Champions League tie against Inter at the San Siro.
